I am so overdue for a blog. Not funny! The amazing things is that some of you havent giving up on me. I see that people check everyday to see if i would get back on track and thats really cool. So i should update you on a few things.

Normandy is official.

     Last saturday night i played my first show as “Normandy.” My same songs, just with an awesome full band feel. I went very well. The songs had new life that I have not see before. It was like i had written these song a while back now and the payoff finally came. If you came out to “Solace” to see us, thanks so much. It truly was a great night.

But Other than a great time Saturday and all, my flame was re-lit to play. For a while I have been uninspired and unmotivated. But now things will change. Im not sure where it will go, or what will come but I’m excited. Maybe some new music, maybe bigger shows. I really feel unlimited, which is a very powerful feeling. So I ask that you get excited as well. I hope everything is wonderful.

Some Ideas on competition.

I’m competitive. its a weakness most of the time. I grew up playing tons of sports and I had two sisters that made me fight for my parent attention. As I have grown Its become about writing and performing. I have a lot of friends and buddies that are seeking the same goal as myself; to write perform and share music on as big of a scale as we can get. And Like I said, i usually think this not a good attribute for me to have and that a nice piece of “humble pie” would really help me out but today I realized something…

Im curently in the mist of doing some recording. A mate let me borrow some recording equipment and currently I’m just recording songs that I have not yet put down. Experimenting with other instruments and trying to grow as a “composer and arranger.” I don’t know what will come of these recordings… I’m sure a few of them will make it up on to the web.

Any who… as I am writing and doing some recording I’m finding that my competitive nature is helping push the envelope wide open. I am pushing my brain so hard that creativity is just bleeding out and it’s nice. I dont feel like im trying to be better than everyone I feel like Im just trying to show that I am capable of hanging at this level. That I can write too. So maybe its not competition as much as its acceptance  but I know that I am learning and maturing as a 22YO singer/songwriter. and I should be decent by 30.

learned something today. I am afraid of writing a bad songs (not to say that never have, bc I defiantly have). I know that to write real songs I have to just write from my heart and when you dig that deep, usually its comes out corny and very unpolished, not to mention uncool. So from nw on Im going to try to fight my fears and just write and then polish up.

Im so far behind on watching movies. They never have been my thing, but I recently realized the great art that I was missing out on.  I am a man of imagination and I now understand how vulnerable I am a film. I leave them romanced and captured by adventure. 

To night Im watching Schindler’s List. This is suppose to be good right? It seems like one of epic movies. If I can only stay awake.any great movies that you think I need to see? Send them to me. Hope your day was productive.

This past saturday, I took a trip down to savannah with brandi to see  Phil Wickham. If you have never listen to him, you need to, he’s pretty awesome. After the show, we got to hang out with Phil and he’s is just an inspiration not just as a musician but as a servant to God.

But while we spent the day on the river, I got a little bit of work done on my are that I got started a year ago. I wasnt very happy last year with my result or service so I decided to start looking for a new artist. I found Michael at Skin Art’e from some friends and It was the absolute best tattoo experience I have had. Nice people, great art and Michael is just a great guy. He had the softest hand I have felt (in tattoo terms). Go see them.

Not to much done but its a start. I cant wait to see it finished.

when i get in arguments with people, which doesn’t happen often, but when it does, i always evaluate myself. Probably out of worry that I am the one at fault. but anyway my post-argument evaluations often go further than who’s fault it is and who did what wrong. I start wondering about the plan. God’s big plan and how its going to pan out. I look around and i feel so temporary. everything from the material things i have, to relationship, to occupations. I feel as if everything could be hugely different next month.

I never allow myself to get to settled because i don’t want to be to happy with where I am because Im afraid i could lose it.

So i guess that its an optimistic mind set because things that I don’t like about my life… It could be all different tomorrow. but for the things that i’m blessed with, i could be missing out because I wont except the gift, all cause I was afraid to lose it. 

This blog is i guess more of thinking out loud then a log for public view but maybe you will gain insight. Sorry if i just put you to sleep.

Today I spent a couple hours with Steve Brown. Steve is an amazing dude. One heck of a drummer amog other things but he is also a great studio engineer. He mixed and mastered a new full-band version of “Logic” for me today. Its for a ministry in Georgia called “Walk to the Cross.” They have asked me if they could put my song on a cd along with other great artist to promote the big festival that will be going on in October ‘09. Wow, that was a really bad run on sentence. Anyway I’m really excited about it and the song will be up on my myspace probably tomorrow night so make sure to check that out and let me know what you think.
